7) Final Installation of Engine into the Car (part 2)

We bolt on the water pump and start putting on the W/P drive system. Please note that some people become worried that they don't want this system running in the wheel well. I and many of my customers have been using this system for more than 8 years and we have not experienced any problems with it. It sets back far enough that any tire offset that would hit it would have to hit the spring on the strut first. I did have one customer who had contact with the W/P drive system as he was installing the V-8 engine in his car, but as it turns out the right rear wheel was Toe'd-In about an inch, that is the only way that the tire could ever make contact with this drive. Some people have built a shield to keep foreign materials out of this drive. I guess that's ok, but I have never covered one of mine up and as I live in the snow belt and also drive a lot of dirt roads, I have never broken a belt or drive system with any foreign objects. There is an alternative to using this system and that is to use a Morosso Electric Water Pump. The Morosso P/N 63555 is a street rated Electric Water Pump and it has been used quite effectively by several customers. You can't use the stock Chevy W/P belt drive system without doing some major frame cutting and welding. Since I can install a V-8 into a Fiero using one of my kits without any frame cutting, I refuse to cut the frame to clear a belt to drive the water pump.

Here we continue mounting up all the accessories, the air cleaner and the trim part over the top of the distributor.
