5) Installing the New Engine onto the Engine Cradle (part 5)

Now we will install the Exhaust System. On this car we are using Cat. Converters and Twin Resonator tips. The exhaust system shown in the Video Instruction Tape is actually much simpler that the system shown here. In the Video it shows the exhaust system pipes are all 90 Deg. And 45 Deg. Bends, with the routing virtually the same as you see here. Just prior to performing this V-8 swap we got a new (to us) pipe bending machine, so I got a little "fancy" in the pipe bending for this car. But the concept remains the same. You can install the entire exhaust system here with the exception of the final 90 Deg. Pipe and Resonator tip on each side, you will want to install those after the engine is in the car so that you can make them look just right and come out in the right place on the Fiero. You will also notice that we made provisions for using an O2 sensor in the rear side exhaust pipe just below the exhaust manifold.

These pics. Show the exhaust system on the finished car. You can also see the exhaust system from different angles through out this article.

Mounting the original Fiero oil pressure sender. This item mounts back by the distributer on the SBC via the appropriate pipe fittings.

Note that when using a TPI system is necessary to use the TPI oil pressure sensor IN ADDITION to the Fiero unit. Just use a "T" fitting to accommodate this sensor along with the Fiero sensor. You also need to use the TPI Water Temp. Sensor which should mount at the front of the TPI manifold under the Throttle plate.
